The University of Baghdad hosted Professor Keiko Sakai a faculty member at Chiba University in Japan to participate as a member and second supervisor on a master's thesis defense committee in the College of Arts, as well as the participation is part of the academic cooperation between the University of Baghdad and Japanese universities.

Baghdad University reviewed that the collaboration falls within the framework of joint scientific cooperation that has linked the University of Baghdad with a number of Japanese universities for over twenty-one years.

The University highlighted that the cooperation has resulted in the establishment of the Japanese Language Department in the College of Arts, as well as the adoption of joint teaching and supervision programs since 2022, involving a number of Japanese faculty members and supported by the Ministry of Higher Education and Scientific Research and the University of Baghdad.

Baghdad University continued to expand its academic partnerships with Japanese educational institutions.

It is significant to mention that the University currently inked four agreements and memoranda of understanding with Japanese universities, and is finalizing procedures for three new memoranda of understanding with several Japanese public universities, besides joint research projects are being implemented in the fields of humanities and natural sciences.
