Technical College- Musayyib, Al-Furat Al-Awsat Technical University discussed a master dissertation on the design and implementation of a standalone photovoltaic system based on a continuous nanogrid for low-voltage laboratory application. by the postgraduate student, Mr. Shahla Raed Abd.

The dissertation, aims to address the problem of power outages and reduce reliance on traditional systems that depend on inverters and large batteries and achieved directly by powering the system from a 450-watt solar panel using a Buck Converter to regulate the voltage, with a 24-volt battery serving as a backup power source that activates only when the cell voltage falls below the regulated limit.

The dissertation highlighted the design and implementation of a solar-powered DC Nanogrid system to supply the laboratories of the Electrical Engineering Technology Department with stable voltages (5V and 12V) directly from the solar panels.

The dissertation demonstrated the feasibility of powering laboratory loads during working hours using direct solar energy on sunny and partly cloudy days, with clear stability at both 5V and 12V voltages despite variations in irradiance.

The dissertation emphasized that the proposed DC Nano Grid system represents a practical, low-cost, high-efficiency solution suitable for application in educational laboratories, while reducing reliance on batteries and unnecessary conversion stages.
