College of Engineering, University of Al-Qadisiyah discussed a master dissertation on the thermal numerical analysis of fully developed and developed flow of multiple forms of microchannels by the postgraduate student, Mrs. Ghufran Kadhum Mahdi.
The dissertation reviewed a study of the emerging laminar flow of an incompressible Newtonian fluid and a study of heat transfer in developing and fully developed regions in microchannels.
The dissertation highlighted that the length of the thermal inlet can be represented by the following relation z = 0.15 Re Pr DH, and when the flow reaches full thermal growth, the Nusselt number for a fine channel of rectangular cross-section is constant and amounts to 4.41.
The dissertation concluded that the rectangular section microchannel is the best in terms of heat exchange, while the U-shaped microchannel is the worst in terms of heat exchange.
