Basra University Inaugurates Water Desalination Plant

College of Agriculture, University of Basra inaugurated a desalination plant (water R0) with a capacity of 5 tons per hour, President of the University, Dr. Thamir Ahmed Hamdan said. Dr. Hamdan added that the station is operated by marine filters were installed by a staff of the Research Station and Agricultural Experiments as well as the station started producing potable water and water to irrigate crops. Dr. Hamdan reviewed that the station contains a 100-ton crude water storage tank, consists of six USA-made marine filters and sand filters specially designed to maintain the system and a number of wick filters to provide a protection for the marine membranes.
