During his participation in the activities of the Sixth International Conference on Environment and Sustainable Development, held at the University of Technology, the Acting Minister of Higher Education and Scientific Research, Dr. Hallo Al Askari launched the (Green Academy) initiative to disseminate joint applied research between researchers from Iraqi universities and the Ministry of Environment.




Dr. Hallo Al Askari announced a unique initiative comprising two parts aimed at strengthening cooperation between the two institutions:
First: The (Green Academy) initiative to disseminate high-quality applied research jointly conducted by university researchers and researchers from the Ministry of Environment in the areas of pollution resulting from fossil fuel industries, factories, transportation, waste, agriculture, and natural systems.
Second: A cooperation initiative between the University of Technology and the National Center for Air Quality Monitoring at the Ministry of Environment, aimed at exchanging, analyzing, and academically publishing data, and providing technical consultations in the field of air pollution.




His Excellency reviewed that environmental issues have always been a priority for the scientific work of the Ministry of Higher Education and Scientific Research and the Ministry of Environment.




Dr. Hallo Al Askari added that this is one of the areas of joint work that enhances the standing of Iraqi universities on the international academic stage and strengthens their distinguished scientific, research and academic output.



It is significant to mention that the conference included delivering speeches by the President of the University of Technology, Dr. Mohsen Nouri Hamza and members of the organizing committee, as well as displaying a film showcasing environmental research, and scientific sessions commenced, focusing on the themes of climate change, sustainable development, environmental pollution, green technologies, the environment, and life sciences.

His Excellency visited the Environmental Research Center on the sidelines of the conference, as well as reviewing the center's operations and the scientific research being conducted by researchers in various specialized fields.

Dr. Hallo Al Askari also posed for a group photo with students from the College of Electromechanical Engineering.
