The College of Science, University of Kufa discussed a master dissertation on the phenotypic and molecular detection of virulence markers associated with antibiotic resistance in Enterococcus bacteria causing urinary tract infections by the postgraduate student, Ms. Mona Saleh Hamza.

The dissertation aimed at identifying Enterococcus species isolated from various clinical samples and investigating the virulent factors that contribute to the increased resistance of these bacteria to clinically used antibiotics.

The dissertation reviewed that Enterococcus isolates possess a high capacity to cause infection due to the presence of genes encoding virulence factors, a finding confirmed by laboratory tests and advanced molecular techniques.

The dissertation emphasized the importance of establishing precise differential diagnostic criteria for bacterial isolates, which will contribute to improving diagnostic methods and developing more effective treatment strategies for these infections.
