Basrah University’s Master’s Dissertation: On Aquatic Plants & Environmental Pollutants

College of Science, University of Basrah discussed the role of some aquatic plants in removing some environmental pollutants in the orchards of Basrah Governorate by the postgraduate student, Mr. Muhammad Osama Dawoud.

The dissertation aimed at comparing the role of plants in filtering pollutants and estimating trace elements in the targeted channels, while studying the possibility of using aquatic plants to treat pollutants due to their effect in reducing the concentration of heavy elements in water, soil and palm leaves.

The dissertation recommended conducting more studies on the pollution of the Shatt al-Arab canals, paying attention to aquatic plants, including salt ester plants and raising awareness to demonstrate their importance and role in improving water quality by removing pollution.
