College of Science, University of Diyala discussed a Ph.D. thesis on manufacturing and developing of a titanium alloy coated with a bio-nano-material for dental applications by the postgraduate student, Mrs. Mayada Faisal Khalil.
The thesis aimed at manufacturing copper-supported titanium alloys using the pulsed laser deposition method.
The thesis reviewed the structural, morphological and mechanical properties, in addition to the antibacterial and anti-cancer cell lines properties.
The thesis highlighted structural tests of the alloy before and after coating showed that the diffraction peaks are for the α-Ti phase, as well as slight peaks for the metallic Ti2Cu phase as for the tests of the alloy before coating, the pure titanium alloy (Ti-0%Cu) appeared in a homogeneous distribution and the results of the mechanical tests also reviewed the alloy has high hardness and high corrosion resistance.
