The Deputy Minister of Higher Education and Scientific Research for Scientific Research Affairs, Prof. Dr. Haider Abd Dhahad met the Cultural Counselor of the Islamic Republic of Iran in Baghdad, Mr. Gholamreza Abazari.

During the meeting, the two sides reviewed areas of scientific and academic cooperation, as well as ongoing preparations for the (3rd Iraqi-Iranian Science Week,) scheduled to be held in the Iranian city of Isfahan.

The meeting also addressed the activation of a reciprocal scholarship program and 200 scholarships would be provided annually for Iraqi students to study at reputable Iranian universities, in exchange for 100 scholarships provided annually by Iraq for Iranian students, as well as this arrangement builds upon previous scholarship agreements and will be renewed this year, with 200 scholarships allocated annually for Iraqi students.

It is significant to mention that the meeting which was also attended by the Director General of the Scholarships and Cultural Relations, Prof. Dr. Hazim Baqir, the Iranian Ministry of Science honored the Deputy Minister, recognizing him as the most prominent scientific and cultural figure in the Islamic world for this year, as well as the honoring is part of an annual tradition by the Iranian Ministry to recognize distinguished foreign scientific figures, in appreciation of his academic standing and his contributions to foster cultural and academic dialogue.
