Babylon University Obtains patent

A faculty member in the College of Fine Arts, University of Babylon obtained a patent on producing vegetable leather raw which is extracted from palm trees.

The patent, in which granted by the Central Organization for Standardization and Quality Control Unit of the Ministry of Planning, reviewed that the extracted of cellulose material of the palm trees which was tested in laboratory proved not to be affected by humidity and temperature, has been manufactured according to well-studied basics which are  appropriate to Iraqi weather conditions.

The patent also reviewed that cellulose is a successful alternative material to the leather which is imported from outside Iraq, expensive and it contains chemical toxic materials, which may cause damage to humans.
