Mustansiriyah University Organizes 7th Applied Engineering Conference

In cooperation with the Research and Development Center of the Ministries of Oil and Industry, the College of Engineering at Mustansiriyah University organized the Seventh Applied Engineering Conference 2026, with the participation of researchers and specialists from various universities.

The President of Mustansiriyah University, Prof. Dr. Safaa Taqi Al-Issawi emphasized that holding the conference represents a strategic step towards utilizing advanced scientific findings to serve state institutions. 

Prof. Dr. Safaa Taqi Al-Issawi reviewed that the Ministries of Oil and Industry are the primary beneficiaries of research outputs that provide applied engineering solutions to field challenges in national projects.

The University’s President added that this integration reflects the university's vision of transforming scientific research into a genuine investment that supports the national economy. 

Prof. Dr. Safaa Taqi Al-Issawi highlighted that the engineering expertise driving operations in various ministries is a product of these academic institutions, which have proven their worth by achieving five-star institutional accreditation and ranking highly in the Times Higher Education World University Rankings, making them essential and reliable partners in the nation's development and progress. 

The University’s President said that the conference demonstrated seventeen scientific papers across the fields of civil, electrical, mechanical, environmental, architectural, and petroleum engineering, presenting technical solutions that meet the demands of the current era.

Prof. Dr. Safaa Taqi Al-Issawi continued by saying that the conference research addressed diverse engineering areas, including the development of sustainable building materials using recycled waste, the evaluation of the seismic performance of structures, the application of artificial intelligence and the Internet of Things in smart agriculture, and the monitoring of solar energy systems.

It is significant to mention that the research also encompassed the development of mathematical models and algorithms to support decision-making in infrastructure projects, the design of self-healing sensor networks, and analytical studies on the impact of architectural composition on urban thermal stress in Baghdad.
