Speaker of the Council of Representatives, Mr. Haibat Al-Halbousi met His Excellency, Minister of Higher Education and Scientific Research, Prof. Dr. Haider Bahaa Al-Hasani.

The Speaker of the Council of Representatives congratulated the Minister on assuming his duties and affirmed the Council’s support for the Ministry’s plans and programmes aimed at developing Iraqi universities and strengthening their scientific and research capabilities.

For his part, His Excellency, Minister of Higher Education and Scientific Research, Prof. Dr. Haider Bahaa Al-Hasani expressed his appreciation for the congratulations and emphasised the importance of cooperation between the legislative and executive authorities in providing the requirements necessary to advance higher education and develop the university environment, enabling academic institutions to fulfil their mission efficiently and respond to national development priorities.

The meeting addressed mechanisms for advancing academic and research performance and updating programmes and disciplines in line with scientific developments and labour market needs, as well as the role of the Council of Representatives in providing supportive legislative frameworks to address the challenges facing universities and consolidate their role in knowledge production and community service.
