His Excellency, Minister of Higher Education and Scientific Research, Prof. Dr. Haider Bahaa met with the Chairman , Mr. Adnan Mohammed Al-Shammari, and several members of the Provincial Council.

Prof. Dr. Haider Bahaa focused on ways to support universities within the province, with the aim of fostering institutional integration and expanding partnerships in scientific, research, and developmental spheres.

During the meeting which was also attended by Member of Parliament Munther Al-Shammari, His Excellency underscored the importance of supporting universities, enabling them to fulfill their academic and societal missions, and enhancing their scientific environments.

Prof. Dr. Haider Bahaa stressed the need to align university programs and research outputs with the province’s specific needs and development priorities.

His Excellency emphasized the necessity of shielding academic institutions from political polarization, preserving their institutional independence, and reinforcing their status as centers of knowledge dedicated to human development and service to society.

Prof. Dr. Haider Bahaa also highlighted the significance of fostering values ​​of citizenship and peaceful coexistence within the university environment.

His Excellency advocated for an inclusive national discourse that preserves the province’s social fabric, while reinforcing the role of universities in promoting awareness, a culture of dialogue, and a sense of national responsibility.

For their part, the Chairman and members of the Diyala Provincial Council affirmed the importance of strengthening cooperation with the Ministry of Higher Education and Scientific Research and the province’s universities.

They pledged to coordinate efforts to meet the requirements for developing these academic institutions and supporting their scientific endeavors, ultimately contributing to improved educational quality and better service for the people of the province.
