College of Engineering, University of Karbala conducted a study on merging of the PAVER software with geographic information systems (GIS) to identify road network defects and propose ways of addressing problems in order to reduce maintenance costs.
The study aimed at developing the priorities system which reveals the most common problems in the road network, finds different defects and proposes ways of solving them.
The study conducted at a distance of 56 kilometers includes all the functional types of roads which review exposure the infrastructure of the road networks to loads and natural factors such as rainwater, high temperature and large loads in order to solve these issues.
It is worth mentioning that merging PAVER software with geographic information systems (GIS) will provide easy and accurate way to maintain roads.
