College of Media, University of Al-Iraqia held an online workshop on digital media education as a societal necessity by the faculty member, Dr. Gamal Abid Namous. The online workshop aimed at raising societal awareness of the advantages of digital education via building critical thinking and evaluation skills for media content and multi-source messages and providing participants with technical skills in the field of information security, methods of verifying images and videos published on social media. The online workshop highlighted the concept of media and digital education, its advantages, objectives and functions, critical thinking skills and methods of forming a mental image, as well as the importance of integrating media education in educational programs and parallel school activities. The online workshop recommended that the media education subject to be implemented in the educational curricula of the Ministry of Education due to its importance in various general aspects.
