College of Medicine, University of Babylon conducted a study on using of Letrozole or Clomiphene in treating infertility associated with PCOS.
The study reviewed that polycystic ovary syndrome which is characterized by a hormonal disorder caused by a dysfunction of insulin.
The study included selecting a random sample of women with PCOS and they were treated into two groups, the first group was treated with Letrozole and the second was treated with Clomiphene and the result of the treatment was the ovulation rate in first group was higher than the second group but the pregnancy rates were higher in the second group.
The study reviewed that the Letrozole could be used in stimulating ovulation in women with PCOS as an alternative to Clomiphene.
