College of Education, University of Misan organized an online symposium on the environmental effects of floods in Misan Governorate. The online symposium demonstrated a group of researches on studying the environmental effects of torrents in the governorate, such as rain deviations and their impact on torrential flows in the east of the Governorate and the impact of torrents on human land uses in the Wadi Qaratapa and Surat Khatun. The online symposium reviewed the environmental impacts of floods on transport routes, agricultural lands and industrial facilities located in eastern Misan Governorate, as well as studying the survey characteristics of the basins and valleys east of the Tigris River and estimating the volume of water torrents. The online symposium recommended studying the possibility of making use of flood water by collecting it in specific areas and investing it during times of scarcity.
