College of Business and Economics, Al-Iraqia University organized a workshop on smart cities and the possibility of implementing them in Iraq by Dr. Mohamed Abd Al-Redha Salih. The workshop addressed the concept of smart cities and their impact on countries due to the growing concerns of climate change and health challenges, as well as threatening environmental problems and how to deal with nature and benefit from natural resources. The workshop reviewed the characteristics of smart cities, their various sectors and determining the mechanisms to be followed in order to reach smart cities, as well as trying to lay the foundations for the possibility of implementing smart cities in Iraq. The workshop recommended developing national public policies for the transformation into smart cities and strategies for converting at least 5 Iraqi cities into smart cities, as well as building a model for partnership with the private sector to implement smart city projects and applications and developing regulations and legislation to match the components of smart cities.
