College of Medicine, University of Basrah organized a workshop on DNA Sequencing and Bioinformatics. The workshop reviewed the principles and basics of sequencing the nitrogenous bases of DNA and the ideal methods for preparing a DNA sample in the laboratory before sending it to the specialized companies to determine the sequence of nitrogenous bases, as well as learning how to analyze the results of sequencing using of specialized programs. The workshop aimed at identifying points of similarities and differences between samples that are prepared in the laboratory and samples found in the Global Genebank. The workshop highlighted the ideal methods for preparing a DNA sample in the laboratory and the mechanism of sending the DNA sample for examination and receiving the results electronically. The workshop recommended relying on the reviewed methods of analyzing the sequence of nitrogenous bases for DNA to obtain the best results.
