University of Dhi-Qar held a symposium on installing additional monitoring equipment near Gharraf oil field to monitor seismic activities and activate cooperation with Dhi-Qar Oil Company.
The symposium, in which a number of specialists participated, reviewed seismic activity in Rifai district and risks of seismic activity and natural earthquakes as well as reviewing the seismic potential in Rifai district.
The symposium recommended building a specialized research center to study seismic activities, form teams to deal with disasters and send awareness campaigns for the people of northern areas of Al-Nasiriyah Province.
