College of Science, University of Diyala organized a training course on sedimentary environments and their role in building stratigraphy by the faculty member, Dr. Salah Ali Hussein. The course reviewed sedimentary environments and how to distinguish those environments via the rock tissue. The course highlighted the effect of maritime progress and retreat on changing the location of sedimentary environments, which in turn affect the construction of stratigraphic sequences vertically and their geographic distribution horizontally. The course also reviewed models of stratigraphic sequences in Iraq and how changes in sedimentary environments affect the construction of those sequences.
