During a meeting with the representative of the Italian University of Bologna and archaeological expert, Mr. Niccol Marchetti, His Excellency, Minister of Higher Education and Scientific Research, Dr. Nabeel Kadim Abid Al-Sahib reviewed that the understanding between the two sides will support a future project towards an Iraqi-Italian school in the field of archeology, which requires the development of cooperation ways via joint programs for scholarships, exchanging of students and faculty members and the providing of an environment for scientific research. His Excellency expressed the Ministry appreciation for the interest of the University of Bologna and its experts to cooperate with Iraqi universities to strengthen cultural relations via scientific and cultural programs and joint work in the fields of knowledge, especially with regard to Iraqi antiquities and its history. Dr. Abid Al-Sahib renewed the Ministry’s call on developing partnership and studying a joint project to establish an archeology laboratory in the universities for the purposes of training, qualification and skills development. His Excellency stressed on that the Iraqi universities in Mosul, Baghdad, Kufa, Al-Qadisiyah, Samarra, Thi-Qar and Babylon are fully prepared to cover the requirements of cooperation with the archaeological missions of the University of Bologna via scientific coordination among these institutions via the adopted contexts. For his part, Mr. Marchetti appreciated the great cooperation of the Iraqi Ministry of Higher Education and Scientific Research and its universities in enhancing understanding, coordinating, exchanging scientific experiments and providing an appropriate environment for meaningful scientific research.
