Ministry of Higher Education and Scientific Research announced on attendance and competition of seventy-nine Iraqi public and private universities in the first half of 2021 Webometrics Ranking of World Universities. The Ministry reviewed that according to the Webometrics website (http://www.webometrics.info/en/Asia/Iraq), the results of the December 2021 version revealed an increase in the number of Iraqi universities and colleges in Webometrics Ranking, reaching seventy-nine public and private universities. The Ministry highlighted that the ranking of universities is around the world’s universities, while the University of Baghdad obtained (2058) at the forefront of Iraqi universities, followed by many universities, such as Babylon, Al-Mustansiriyah, Kufa, Al-Qadisiyah, Basrah, Mosul, Diyala, Tikrit, Anbar, Al-Mustaqbal, Al-Rashid, Al-Safwa, Ibn Hayyan, Dijla, Ahl Al-Bayt, Al-Mansour, Al-Kafeel, Al-Nisour and Al-Israa. It is worth mentioning that the Webometrics Ranking works on the ranking of thirty-one thousand universities in more than 200 countries in the world and consists of three important indicators: the clarity of the website with a weight of 50% as this indicator seeks to measure the number of external electronic networks linked to the main website of the university and the transparency index With a weight of 10% to measure the number of citations by university researchers within the scientific search engine Google scholar and the index of scientific research quality (excellence) with a weight of 40% to measure the number of scientific research indexed within the scimago index. It is noteworthy that Iraqi public and private universities have their presence and escalating competition in the global rankings, especially the (The Times) ranking, in which there are three Iraqi universities, the (QS) ranking in which two Iraqi universities are located, the (Scimago) ranking in which eighteen Iraqi universities are located and the Greenmetric ranking. In which 60 Iraqi universities have entered, the URAP ranking in which four Iraqi universities are located, and the Webometrics ranking is now added, which recorded the attendance and competition of seventy-nine Iraqi universities.
