Kirkuk University: On Ionized Radiation & Health Risks

College of Science, University of Kirkuk held a workshop on ionized radiation and its health risks against human. The workshop, in which a number of researchers and specialists participated, aimed at identifying the ionized radiation, its health risks against human and preventive measures. The workshop reviewed internal and external types of radiation that may occur via various radiation exposure paths and radiation health risks such as, skin redness, hair loss and radiation burns. The workshop recommended wearing radiation protective clothing, shoes and gloves during dealing with radioactive activities, as well as keeping away from the radiation sources as much as possible via marking all radioactive materials and laboratories where radioactive material is present by ionizing radiation sign.
