College of Pharmacy, University of Misan organized a symposium on diseases and viral hepatitis by the faculty member, Mrs. Amal Hussein Muhaimid. The symposium addressed the problems of the liver, its functions and the diseases that affect the human liver that lead to the occurrence of viral hepatitis. The symposium reviewed the most important and most common liver disease, which is viral hepatitis, as it is considered as one of the infectious diseases caused by viruses and causes damage to liver cells and may resulting temporary or permanent damage. The symposium highlighted the danger of contracting this viral infection via the presence of inflammatory cells within the liver tissue, which causes jaundice to the body (yellowing of the skin), especially in children. The symposium recommended the necessity of following preventive measures to avoid the occurrence of liver diseases, these procedures include taking the necessary vaccinations, as well as not touching the blood and fluids of other people and keeping on the cleanliness of food and water in order to avoid infection.
