During a meeting with the Ambassador of the People's Republic of China, Mr. Zhang Tao, representatives from Huawei the company specialized in communications and information technology His Excellency, Minister of Higher Education and Scientific Research, Dr. Nabeel Kadim Abid Al-Sahib said that the Ministry appreciated the China's stances towards the Iraqi people, especially in the field of providing the vaccine against the Corona epidemic, as well as His Excellency stressed at the same time the desire of the educational institution in Iraq towards enhancing cooperation with China in the scientific and technological field. Dr. Abid Al-Sahib reviewed that the Memorandum of Understanding signed between Iraq and China currently provides an important environment for cooperation and coordination between the universities of the two countries in terms of cultural exchange. His Excellency added that not a few numbers of Iraqi scholars are currently studying in the recognized Chinese universities. Dr. Abid Al-Sahib called on investing knowledge in Iraq as Iraq represents an important environment for scientific researches on industrial, agricultural and economic fields, as well as developing a joint project of the Smart University City. His Excellency highlighted that the two sides agreed on promoting joint work via scientific twinning programs and scholarships in the fields of medicine, engineering and science and creative opportunities for Iraqi students, donating advanced equipment to Iraqi universities and providing electronic laboratories. For his part, Mr. Tao stressed the Chinese side's readiness on fully cooperate in the field of higher education and scientific research with Iraq and proving training programs in coordination with Iraqi universities to develop skills and raise the level of technological capabilities in cooperation with specialized Chinese companies such as Huawei, as well as imminent inauguration of the electronic library and the Chinese Language Center in Baghdad University. For their part, the representatives of the Huawei in Iraq expressed their readiness on providing the latest technologies and solutions to Iraq and to enhance training fields in Iraqi universities. It is worth mentioning that was attended by Director of Scholarships and Cultural Relations, Dr. Hazem Baqer Taher.
